Köln Kings played their second double header of the season on the 25th of July. First up were the Domstadt daredevils, who the Kings had comprehensively beaten a few weeks previously. Dhruv won the toss (to everyone's surprise) and chose to bat first even with a very heavy outfield. The Kings got off to a bad start with in-form Tejas out for a duck, caught behind off a lovely ball that swung late. Irfan and Dhruv steadied the ship with some counter-attacking batting but Irfan lost his stumps going for yet another big hit. Both Rameez and Ameya lost their wickets cheaply, leaving the kings in a spot of bother. A surprise was on the cards with speedster Prateek promoted up the order. He started cautiously, rotating the strike regularly. However, when Dhruv fell after scoring 34 runs, Prateek let loose, smashing sixes all over the park. He was well supported by Satya, who seems to be in great touch this season. Prateek's big hitting salvaged the innings, ending at 155 in 20 overs.
The daredevils would have to bat out of their skins to win this game. Prateek and appu started off once again in excellent fashion, their quick outswingers being very difficult to even connect, let alone score off of. Dhruv surprisingly pulled Appu out of the attack after just one over, bringing left-arm spinner Sandheep on in the powerplay. He struck straight away, getting opener Karanam caught behind. Prateek then grabbed his first wicket of the game, leaving the daredevils in huge trouble. Sateesh 'Hazlewood' joined the party, bowling beautifully in tandem with Sandheep to wreck the daredevils' top order. Sateesh picked up two wickets, while Sandheep ended his spell with three wickets. Tejas bowled three tight overs, while the tail was mopped up by Ameya and Dhruv, who reminded the spin duo of sandheep and Tejas to be on their toes, with some crafty leg-spin. The darevils were all out for 34, an easy win for the Kings.
